According to an anonymous source within Media Trust, the publishers of Daily Trust and Aminiya, who spoke with Kano Times, Gwadabe’s departure occurred three weeks ago.
The source confirmed, “Yes, our Deputy Editor-in-Chief Maude Rabiu Gwadabe has left Media Trust.”
Gwadabe, who took on the role of Head of Hausa Service at Media Trust Limited in January 2023, was promoted to the position of Deputy Editor-in-Chief.
With a background in academics, Gwadabe holds a PhD in Mass Communication from Bayero University Kano, awarded in 2019, and an M.A. in Political Communication from the University of Leeds, UK, where he was a British Chevening Scholar in 2013.
His career began as a broadcast journalist with Freedom Radio Kano, where he advanced to Head of News and Current Affairs. Gwadabe also worked with BBC World Service (Hausa) as a broadcast and multimedia journalist.
Between 2019 and 2020, he managed the Nigeria Project for the launch of Radio Ndarason International in Maiduguri, a peacebuilding radio station serving the Lake Chad region in Kanuri. Additionally, he was the pioneer General Manager for both Nasara FM and Premier FM in Kano.
Gwadabe founded Kano Focus online newspaper and Tarihi TV and has served as a media consultant and trainer for various international organizations, including iMedia, UNICEF, and DFID.
At the time of compiling this report, Mr. Gwadabe has not yet disclosed his new career plans.
