KANO STATE FIRE SERVICE:
On Sunday 19 January 2025 at about 18:30 hrs, state fire service control room received emergency call from one of our staff SFS Idris Isah Charo and inform the incident of a fire at Ibrahim Taiwo Road Yan Kafifa Fagge LGA, the crew on duty from different fire station within the metropolitan were mobilised to the scene of incident and arrived at 18:34 hrs, on their arrival they found that a house popular known as Gidan Alhaji Muhammadu Mai Katifa, which is about 100 x 100 ft, used as a mattress store which is known as Vita form Plaza, caught fire from the last floor, which caused the burning of a mattress store, one shop and one toilet which were all burnt to the upper floor.
Thereafter the first floor of the building, three shops and one toilet.
Ground floor, four shops and two toilets, all of them were slightly alight.
There and then the fire spread to neighbour house where it touched a little at the house.
Meanwhile, we received information that, a 30 year old man named Suraja Muhammad was suffocated by smoke and was conveyed to the hospital for medical attention before the arrival of our men.
5 jet from the state fire service in used, cause of the incidence is under investigation and the estimate properties lost.
