Ghastly car accident in Yobe, 10 Killed, 3 Injured
A devastating accident occurred on the Damaturu-Maiduguri road on Tuesday, resulting in the loss of 10 lives and leaving three others injured, the Yobe State Police Command confirmed.
According to SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the Command's spokesperson, the accident happened around 10 a.m. at a security checkpoint in Warsala Town. A truck loaded with cement and passengers lost control, collided with a car, and plunged into a ditch.
"Ten of the 13 passengers on the trailer died instantly, while three sustained injuries," Abdulkarim stated. The injured victims have been rushed to the Specialist Hospital in Damaturu for immediate medical attention.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the truck driver lost control, causing the collision and subsequent crash. Remarkably, the solo occupant of the car survived unharmed, although the vehicle suffered significant damage.
An investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
