Waiya Urges Special Reporters And Senior Special Reporters To Amplify Developmental Achievements
Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, has called on Special Reporters and Senior Special Reporters in government ministries and agencies to intensify efforts in informing the public about the state’s developmental projects and initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life of its citizens.
The Commissioner made this appeal during a dedicated meeting with the reporters, emphasizing the need to enhance their functions and address challenges hindering their operations.
Comrade Waiya, who noted that the Special Reporters operate under the supervision of the Ministry of Information and Internal Affairs, assured them of the ministry’s commitment to providing necessary training, equipment, and welfare support to facilitate their duties.
He stressed the importance of clear communication regarding their roles and fostering collaboration between Special Reporters, agency heads, and Information Officers within the ministries and agencies they serve.
Waiya also announced plans to organize the Special Reporters into clusters covering key ministries to ensure the effective dissemination of information about ongoing developmental projects.
In his remarks, the Chairman, Special Reporters and Senior Special Reporters Forum attached to MDAs, Ameer Abdullahi Kima Daurawa, congratulated the Commissioner on his appointment, describing him as a deserving choice.
He noted that the Forum was established to collaboratively promote and educate the public about the initiatives of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration. Daurawa urged the Commissioner to address their challenges, including transportation and their inclusion in government welfare programs.
Also speaking, the Director Information of the ministry, Alhaji Inuwa Idris Yakasai, suggested that the government provide specialized journalism training for Special Reporters at the state’s journalism institute to enhance their reporting skills.
