Armed bandits have shot one person and kidnapped two others in an attack on Mashayaya and Kolawa villages in Kankia Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The incident occurred on March 7, 2025, when suspected bandits stormed Mashayaya Village, shooting Lado Mekaji in both legs before robbing residents of mobile phones and cash.
A counter-insurgency expert and security analyst, Zagazola Makama in a post on X on Saturday, said the assailants then moved to Kolawa Village, where they abducted Bello (M) and Aisha (F). Upon receiving a distress call, troops of Operation Fasan Yanma, alongside local vigilantes, swiftly mobilised and engaged the bandits in a hot pursuit.
Security forces successfully rescued Lado Mekaji and took him for medical attention. However, the search and rescue operation for the kidnapped victims is ongoing.
Security operatives have intensified surveillance and clearance operations in the area to track down the perpetrators and prevent further attacks.
