INDONESIA COMMENDS KANO STATE GOVERNMENT ON RAMADAN FEEDING PROGRAMME
The Government of Indonesia has commended the Kano State Government for its Ramadan feeding programme, aimed at alleviating the hardship faced by the less privileged in the state.
The commendation was given by the Indonesian Acting Ambassador to Nigeria during a courtesy visit to the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, at his office. The Acting Ambassador, who was represented by the Head of the Cultural and Education Department at the Indonesian Embassy in Nigeria, Madam Tutu, expressed admiration for the initiative.
She stated that they were pleased to witness the state government's efforts in distributing food and drinks to the needy, emphasizing that such gestures would significantly ease their suffering. Madam Tutu also explained that their visit to Kano was in line with a directive from the Indonesian authorities to monitor Ramadan activities across the world.
In his response, Commissioner Waiya welcomed the delegation and expressed his delight that the Indonesian Embassy was closely observing Kano State's Ramadan feeding programme. He highlighted that the government provides iftar meals to 91,000 vulnerable residents daily across the state, with catering companies engaged to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of meals at 91 designated centers.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Kano Council of Traders and Entrepreneurs, Hassan Ya’u, who accompanied the delegation, noted that Kano and Indonesia share several similarities, including a common Islamic heritage and long-standing diplomatic and business ties with Nigeria.
