Gunmen have abducted seven people, including women and children, from Anchuna village in Ikulu chiefdom, Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The attackers stormed the village late on Wednesday night, shooting sporadically before taking their victims away.
A resident, Samuel Kukah, who is a family member of the renowned Bishop Hassan Kukah, confirmed the incident. “My brother, Ishaya, was the only male among the abductees; the rest were women and children. They launched the attack on Wednesday night around 11pm,” he said.
He added that there has been no contact since the abduction. “We are praying for their safety while waiting for any call,” he stated. Kukah urged security agencies to act swiftly, stressing that most of those kidnapped were vulnerable individuals, Daily Post reports.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Kaduna State command, DSP Mansir Hassan, was unavailable for comment at the time of this report.
This attack follows the recent killing of a Catholic bishop in Kaduna State by armed bandits.
