KNSG Reaffirms commitment to the welfare of persons with special needs
Kano State Commissioner Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, has reaffirmed the state government's unwavering commitment to the welfare and inclusion of persons with special needs.
The Commissioner made this declaration when the leadership of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disability paid him a courtesy visit at his office.
He emphasized that disability should never be a cause for despair but rather a source of motivation for individuals to strive for self-reliance and personal development.
Comrade Waiya highlighted that persons with special needs possess unique talents bestowed upon them by God, which, when properly harnessed, can significantly contribute to the development of Kano State.
He assured the delegation of his dedication to ensuring their inclusion in all government support and empowerment programs.
The Commissioner pledged to collaborate with the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Children and the Disabled to ensure that individuals with disabilities benefit from all developmental initiatives aimed at improving their quality of life.
He further emphasized the compassionate leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, noting that the Governor is deeply committed to assisting all citizens, including persons with special needs, and will continue to support their welfare and integration into society.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the Chairman of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disability, Muhammad Musa Shaga, stated that the visit was both to congratulate Comrade Waiya on his appointment and to seek the Ministry’s support in securing their inclusion in all government empowerment and employment Programmes
Shaga also called for the establishment of state Commission for persons with Disabilities to oversee the welfare of persons with special needs.
He acknowledged that even before assuming office, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf had been a consistent supporter of their cause, expressing confidence that his administration would continue to champion their welfare.
